ALL BAPTIZED CHRISTIANS who confess that Jesus is present in this sacrament of Holy Communion are welcome at his table, including children. The flowers on the altar are given to the Glory of God and by tom and Mary Ann Sprague in memory of their parents; in honor of Tony's 35th birthday by the House Family; by the Kloesz Family in loving memory of William Kloesz on his birthday; and in honor of Shayne Boucher's birthday given by his family.

We welcome the Rev. Dr. Philip Krey to our worship services this weekend. Dr. Krey is the President of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.

The August birthday lunch out will be held at 12:30 on Tuesday, August 19th at the Millenium Hotel Restaurant, 2040 Walden Avenue, Cheektowaga, NY. Come help us celebrate with the August birthday people. Please call the church office (839-1314) for reservations.

10:30 Crossroads Choir begins rehearsals - Choir rehearsals will begin on Thursday, Augutst 28th, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. The next rehearsal will be on Thursday, September 4th, and we plan to sing at the worship service on Sunday, September 7th. The singing at our 10:30 services has been so good that we know a lot of you will be ready to come and be a part of this worship ministry!

Coffee hour volunteers needed - Sign-up sheets are int he back of the church for coffee hour volunteers. Wee need someone for set-up before 9:00 service, clean-up after 10:30 service, and to bring goodies each week. This system will start at Amherst on August 24th. August 17th is already covered. Anyone bringing baked goods should have them at church no later than 9:45 a.m. so they will be available after the 9:00 a.m. service. Thanks for helping.

School Supplies: 1. Once again we will be supplying needed school items to the children of the Windermere School. When you return to Amherst on the weekend of August 16/17, the usual item board will be on display. We ask for haste in returning your gifts this year. 2. Cleveland Hill continues to collect Kleenex type tissues for Buffalo School #80. Everyone is invited to participate in these two ventures.

Boxes for Iraq - The Social Concerns Committe continues to collect items for our troops in Iraq. There is a collection box and a list of items needed in each church at Amherst and Ascension. Everything will be shipped just before Christmas. Please help support our troops with your prayers and these much needed items.

Next weekends worship services will be help at Amherst Lutheran Church on Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Adult Education will be held at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
